Why Should You Eat Seasonal Produce?

Fruits and vegetables are less expensive when they are purchased in season. Why is this? The simple answer is supply and demand. Produce that is in season is in larger supply so it's typically sold at lower prices. However, produce that is out of season usually cost more because it has to be imported from areas where production can take place year-round. Purchasing seasonal produce is not only good for your wallet, but for your local farmers. Fruits and vegetables grown and purchased locally are fresher, tastier, and more nutritious.
